Jose Lopez Lira passed away on December 6, 2020. After 25 days of battling COVID-19 in the hospital, he put up one heck of a fight. He has always been such a strong, brave man and held on until the love of his life was allowed to visit him in person. Only a few short hours following Evangelina's visit he departed and began his eternal journey with the Lord.
Jose was a retired plaster foreman and a member of the Local 5 Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' Union for over 30 years. He was a family man who devoted his life to his wife and six children. From an early age, he instilled in them the importance of having a relationship with God. He was an adventurous man who loved nature and spending time in the great outdoors. He loved traveling alongside his family. Those who were lucky to have met him said his larger than life, welcoming personality radiated a luminous aura of warmth and happiness. He was a prime example of what a father figure should be. His genuine, selfless, personable presence will truly be missed but his spirit will live on through all the souls he has touched; all who knew him strived to be a little bit more like him. They also carry the mantra of, "work hard, play hard, but God and family is always first."
In Loving Memory of Jose Lopez Lira we will be gathering in celebration to commemorate and share some of our best memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
