"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Alfonso M. Licciardi, who left us peacefully at the age of 96 on November 27th, 2024. Alfonso was born on January 15th, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois. He was an Elmhurst resident and formerly of Westchester. Alfonso lived a full and remarkable life, marked by his unwavering love, kindness and devotion to his family.
Alfonso was a man of quiet strength and deep compassion. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Koula (nee Petrakis) Licciardi and a cherished father to Michael (Sue) Licciardi, Christine (Dennis) Wells and the late Rick (Cathy Galvin); dear brother of Adele (late Gerry) Staden and the late Philip Licciardi. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he was the cornerstone of our family, known for his gentle wisdom, warm hugs, and the way he made everyone feel special. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and his legacy of love will live on in them for generations to come.
Throughout his life, he was known for his caring nature, always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear. He was a man of integrity, patience, and humility, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Whether sharing stories from his youth, offering advice, or simply sitting together in quiet companionship he had a gift for making everyone feel valued and loved.
Alfonso was an accomplished optometrist and his passions in life extended beyond his work and family. Alfonso’s love for football (The Chicago Bears) started well before the screen. He briefly attended Northwestern University on a football scholarship until an injury rendered him unable to continue with the sport. He transferred to the Illinois Institute of Optometry and proudly graduated at the age of 20. All of life’s accomplishments wouldn’t be complete without his marriage to his sweetheart since the fourth grade, Koula Petrakis. Together they shared a passion for traveling, boating, square dancing, bowling, cooking and hosting family dinners. In his heart, their love was timeless. Having shared 70 years of marriage, she was the love of his life, the reason for his smile- he longed to be reunited with her. His legacy of love, dedication and hard work will remain an inspiration to all who knew him.
Family and friends will be received on November 30th, 2024 at Conboy’s Westchester Funeral Home (10501 W. Cermak Rd, Westchester, Il, 60154), with a visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (the service will be live streamed at www.memorialslive.com/Licciardi). Entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
