Juanita arrived in the United States from Mexico in the early 1960’s and became a proud citizen. From the beginning she took to her new environment with a determination to succeed and make positive contributions to her adopted country. She was a strong woman with great faith and a great love for her family and friends, and was very generous, always willing to help others, and was a positive example for her family.
Although not formally receiving a scholastic graduate degree, Juanita earned a Doctorate in raising her family to be successful, helpful, and respectful to others. Raising her three children came with strict rules, and she was adamant that her children study hard and receive a quality education. Through this determination she and her husband, Jose, guided her three children to high academic achievement, and considerable professional accomplishments.

In her spare time, she was a masterful cook, making the best tamales, menudo, enchiladas, pozole, tacos, and more delicious treats, and she always said that the main ingredient was love. She also enjoyed playing Loteria, Bingo, and making the occasional trip to the casino. She was generous with everyone, always sharing with friends and strangers to make sure they had everything they needed. She always put others before herself.
